Breaking down soon

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

As a driver in both military and civilian life, this is one of the major fault to avoid from happening. But… recently, I feel that physically I may.

Not very sure when it all happen, maybe the day I started to do some jogging. After a few jog, my knee start to feel pain till the extend I need to come to a immediate stop (e-brake? haha… similar). Consult specialist seem no use as what he said is just minor problem, not as serious as I thought. But in my mind, I am thinking, if it is a minor one, how come I feel pain even when I walk? Really, is it coz I am a NSF who trying to max my use of 11B? That’s why he feel that way? Sigh.. sound quite sad.

I must admit that I do have some pain here and there. Maybe when I was young and active, didnt take a good care of my body.. So now, it is bouncing back… like my lower back pain, sensitive nose, shoulder pain… then today got a bad flu… Seem quite weak… Somemore, in camp, the responsibility I have as an appointment holder of 2IC… In and out, day by day, there are always some incidents happen which need my attention/advise/help. Studying night class… projects, CAs, presentations, Exams, etc…

Wow… I am really looking forward to a long break… Maybe this Dec or next yr Apr. Hopefully a trip to elsewhere w/o my HP… I really hope that I can visit Japan/S.Korea once more. Need a good hot spring!!! to relax…

The Apprentice 3

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

This is my 1st time watching this show and after the 1st episode, I am hooked to this show. In this show, it didnt seperate all the contestants to male and female which thelast 2 series did. This time, the contestants are divided into the ‘Street Smart’ and ‘Book Smart’. I think it is coz the way how they divide which attracted me to watch this show. Coz… according to what Donald Trump found out, he was shock to see a big gap dieerent between the two grp in term of salary. The ‘Street Smart’ earns at least 3 times more than those from ‘Book Smart’. By the way, The ‘Street Smart’ are those pple whom only obtained at least high school cert and ‘Book Smart’ are those whom graduated from University.

In the 1st round, their task is to help one of the biggest fast food resturant in USA, Burger King to sell one of their new burger. There are six new types and they have to decide on a single burger to sell. The grp has to learn from the very basic of Burger King operation such as cashier, making burger, serving, cleaning up the place and more importantly, market the new burger to customers. At the end of the day, the grp with the highest sale of the new burger win. Ultimately, the ‘Street Smart’ won. That’s coz the way they used, how they market the burger. e.g. giving out attractive leaflet to passer-by, all grp members are trained in all areas of operations and their winning point is they introduced lucky draw, a ticket for two to Las Vega.

On the other hand, ‘Book Smart’ didnt have a relative good strategy. All the grp members are trained in one area of operation. e.g. cashier. Their representive who marketed the burger outside the outlet looked more like a clown than a person who tried to sell it. Somehow, it scared off customers. Their worst scenario is during lunch time where there are so many customers waiting but the cashiers were not familiar with the cash machine. The point of sale which is the cashier was not taken care of. So many customers chose to avoid visiting the outlet.

This kind of show does help/give every individuals who are in the business field something to learn. Though it is only a show for abt an hour plus but the knowledge that gain will definitely help in one ways or the other.

1st Visit to Istana on 21/07/05

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

This is my first time going into Istana. Wow.. didnt know that this place is so beautiful. Though didnt have a chance to walk around due to my duty requirement but afterall, i feel that it is a rare chance. Even though i know that Istana does open to public think once a year but usually i dont bother to go there.

On that day, I involved in the ferry service from LTA carpark which is direct opposite KK Women & Children Hospital. I reached there quite early. Think 0800hrs and surprise to see I am the first one there. Partly coz the actual time of reporting is 0830hrs. I afraid I might caught up in the morning Jam as I travelled on PIE to CTE. But didnt know that going through the ERP gate at CTE is so expensive. 1st deducted S$0.50.. then the 2nd gate deducted S$2.00+ to S$3.00+. Luckily I am driving SAF’s vehicle.. If my own car, I doubt I will enter to city so early.

The plan for that day is to ferry working parties to Istana in teh morning as well as in the afternoon.  The actual event began at night abt 1800hrs. So that’s where I have to stand by my vehicle if the catered bus not enough. 4 air base motor transport line drivers are involved in this event. The main organising party is Sembawang Air Base. Myself from Changi as well as one driver each from Tangah and Paya Lebar Air Base were involved in suporting them vehicles. The event ended at abt 2300hrs and by teh time I reached my base to return the vehicle, it was 0010hrs. I could say it is a tiring day but somehgow it is meaningful.

But… the problem is on friday i got Business Economics test!!! didnt have time to revise but hopefully will manage to pass teh test.

Stress Out

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

Wow… really what a month for me since i started school last month. Ya.. life now has been fulfilling coz my time are well spend. To conclude, what i can say is it is not easy working (referring to serving NS) and studying at the same time. During my 3 yrs in SP as a full time student, i did have this idea of working part time and studying at the same time but it didnt work. Maybe i wasnt that muture at that point of time and being a playful kid, i definitely wasnt good in time management. So my results werent that good.

Maybe now I taste the bitter side of real life. It is so cruel yet so kind in some respect. As in the case in Singapore, there are jobs out there in the market but do I have the qualification for that particular job and the minimum requirement? Sigh… that’s a fact but I have to face it… Hopefully, the hard work I put in now will pay off in the future.
